Hello Neighbor Wiki

The Toy Rifle is a side object in Hello Neighbor, appearing in every released build, including Alpha 1.5, besides the Prototype and Pre-Alpha. It also appears in Secret Neighbor and Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek.

Description

The toy rifle first appeared in Alpha 1. It looks like a rifle with a blue barrel and a wooden stock. It also has the inscription "Bang! Bang!" on both sides of it. The function of the toy rifle is simple - to shoot pellets. This will make it very easy to pass the game. You can break a window with the toy rifle, defuse a trap or camera, activate a switch from a distance, or slow down Mr. Peterson (or, in Hide and Seek, Aaron). The number of pellets in the toy rifle is endless, but at some point they will start disappearing if you shoot too many. In Secret Neighbor, if you shoot the toy rifle at a child, they will fall, after which you can try to kill them; and if you shoot Mr. Peterson, he will die immediately and respawn. But you can only shoot the toy rifle once. After the shot, the toy rifle can only be thrown. The toy rifle can also be created by an inventor by using eight gears.

Location

Hello Neighbor

Alpha 1

You can get the toy rifle by solving math problems in the classroom using number magnets. You will also need a mannequin teacher. The only real use the toy rifle has in this build is to break windows and to use it in the rifle range, since Mr. Peterson cannot be stunned in this build.

Alpha 1.5

The toy rifle hangs on a wall in the main hallway, above a drawer, directly across from the front door. It is unknown if it can stun Mr. Peterson or if it's even functional, as it is never taken in the gameplay demo for Alpha 1.5.

Alpha 2

Located in a shed in the backyard of Mr. Peterson's House, along with the wrench. To get it, you need a lockpick. It can actually stun Mr. Peterson now, so it's far more useful.

Alpha 3

Located on the 2nd floor, hangs on the wall in the room behind the rotating gate.

Alpha 4

Located on the 4th floor of Mr. Peterson's House, in a room with apple-swept. It can be found in the Fear Darkness as a scenery, on the right with pillows on the shelf opposite the switch.

Beta 1 - 2

No changes.

Beta 3

Located on the ceiling in the birthday room. The toy rifle will fall out of the gift if you collect all the lost pieces of cake and all the mannequins in Mr. Peterson's House. One slice of cake is located in the birthday room for a headstart. It is needed to get the red key by shooting a bullet into the cage, but this is incredibly easy to skip.

Full Game

Act 3

Hello Neighbor: Hide & Seek

Stage 1

It's in the closet.

Stage 4

Aaron is armed with it.

Secret Neighbor

Appears randomly somewhere in the house. Often found in the shed but only has one shot.

Trivia

  • Initially, the developers planned to give the functions of the toy rifle to a slingshot, and leave the toy rifle only in Alpha 1.
  • In Alpha 4 near the trash can in the yard near Mr. Peterson's House, you can find a box for the toy rifle.
  • The box is much smaller than the toy rifle itself.
  • The box itself is a reference to youtuber ONE_shot_GURL.
  • In the Betas and Act 3, there is a room which has a doorway that blocks any player carrying the toy rifle in their inventory.
  • The toy rifle refers to the Winchester rifle, which was created by the father of Sarah Winchester's husband, Oliver Fisher Winchester. Mention of the Winchesters can be found in the developer's diary and in the novel "Missing Pieces".
  • In the early Alpha 2, Nicky Roth held the toy rifle differently.
  • In Secret Neighbor, the toy rifle can only be fired once, but this shot can put a child in a near-death state and immediately "kill" Mr. Peterson.
